UK National poetry day, 2019. The University of Kent had invited me over to read my poems, sing my songs and tell my story. I was fortunate to be able steal a moment to photograph this picturesque town and somewhat capture the mood of a people braced for change, for better or worse.

A photograph from the medieval ‘Auld Toun’ or ‘Auld Reekie’, or simply, Edinburgh. It’s claimed that the loch hugging the city was a dumping ground for sewage and dead bodies, can only imagine. Luckily for Edinburghers (or Edinbuggers) only the nickname lingered. These Georgian buildings transport me back to my own hometown of Downpatrick. It’s a toss up between Edinburgh and Paris, but one of my favourite towns and I can’t wait to get back.
