I’ve always been chimney mad. They put me in mind of home, back in Irish street, Downpatrick. Perfect marriage, chimneys and The Blue Nile’s ‘A Walk Across the Rooftops’. These chimneys reside in a beautiful place called Hvitträsk in Finland.

Birch tree Friday

Fun fact, the Finns assemble birch tree branches with leaves into bundles in order to whip themselves in the sauna. The aroma of the birch leaves meeting 80oC is something to behold. It’s a generous tree as in the springtime, one can literally ‘tap’ into it and extract sap-water. It might not be something you’d rush out and do if you were thirsty, but it was surprisingly tasty and refreshing and I would highly recommend you give it a try sometime.
